What’s Ahead in 2009

BlogService has come a long way in the past four months. We went from being a small WCF web service all the way to a solid content management system. This year we will continue to move forward with great new features.

Here are some of the features I'm really looking forward to:

Administration Pages
Widgets
Collection Plug-ins
FOAF
OpenID
Macros
Online Theme Library
Database Repository
Advanced Setup Wizard
Auto Update/Upgrade Process

I also hope we can work with the Live Writer team and engage the Atom community to standardize some of the more common settings used to manage the server.

Trying to figure out priority of features above... managing posts in live writer is not that bad so I'm thinking OpenID and FOAF are next.

Would it not make more sense to get Collection plug-ins work straight first? This sounds like the foundation for many other features. This would probably bring BlogSvc's popularity to a whole new level as people would be able to use your already wonderful codebase to host anything from script repositories to media libraries to.. well.. anything.

Hi Oisin, I have put a considerable amount of effort into getting plug-ins straight for the next release. I do feel like they will provide a solid foundation for many other features. Please take a look at the next release.
